It is still amazing at what great happenings occur at our fantastic school. As a No Fees school we aim to provide opportunities - both learning and social, so our students develop their talents to the Max. I am very proud to be the Principal of such an innovative school who have staff that are dedicated to our students and to their learning.

Debbie Sorensen (Deputy Principal & Oversees Te Tipu Ora team) - Email Deb

Kia Ora. This year I am being called Deb, due to there being two of us here with the same name. My role within our school is Duty Principal for 2020. I look after all students under a SENCO role and I am also lucky enough to be working with the Kahui Ako as an Across Schools Leader (ASL). 2020 is going to be an exciting year with loads of opportunities for us all to learn, explore and have fun.

Kat Thompson (Assistant Principal) - Email Whaea Kat

Kia Ora. My name is Whaea Kat. I am new to Roslyn School this year and my role within our school, is Assistant Principal. I have a passion for Science, STEAM, Technology & the environment. I am excited to be working in different classrooms and groups of students across the school. I am fortunate to continue my work with the Kahui Ako as a Within Schools Teacher (WST) in 2020. I look forward to getting to know our tamariki & whanau. Also the awesome learning possibilities that are ahead of us!

Trish Balloch - Room 7 (Team Leader) - Email Whaea Trish

Kia ora o te whānau. Ko Whaea Trish toku ingoa. I am the team leader of Kahikatea and I am based in Te Whare Tuauri (Room 7) working collaboratively with Miss Anderson and Mr Mac. We work alongside our seniors to inspire them to develop physically, mentally, emotionally and socially within a stimulating educational environment that maximises opportunities for student learning. Our collaborative team wide programmes are structured to support and extend the capabilities of our students to ensure that they are successful 21st Century learners and leaders. I am very proud to be part of the Kahikatea Team!

Callum McConachy - Room 8 - Email Mr Mac

Kia ora my name is Callum Mcconachy, better known as “Mr Mac.” I am based in Room 8 “Te Whare Hiranga,” working collaboratively with the rest of Kahikatea. I will be running our Sports Academy this year which will provide some exciting experiences for our students. I am looking forward to teaching and learning alongside our students and I am extremely proud to be a member of Roslyn School.

Claire Anderson - Room 9 - Email Miss Anderson

Hi, I am the Homeroom teacher of Te Whare Tuatea: Room 9 in Kahikatea. I’m committed to doing my best for the school and look after the Road Patrollers, compile data on the PB4L team and work alongside Whaea Karen with the Health and Safety of our school and everyone in it. I’m excited about the year ahead and the learning journey my class, team and I will travel as we develop our knowledge, skills and talents across all areas of the curriculum.

Kirsty Wilkinson - Room 12 (Team Leader) - Email Whaea Kirsty

Kia ora tatou, my name is Whaea Kirsty and I am really looking forward to starting my 10th year at Roslyn School in the Mana Tahi team. I am excited to be teaching alongside Whaea Vanessa in Poutama Rua (Rooms 12 & 13) where I will have the privilege of educating a fantastic group of Year 5 & 6 students. I am also looking forward to being the Team Leader of this awesome team of teachers and students. I love teaching all subjects, but my particular strengths lie in Literacy, Numeracy, ICT, and Visual Arts. I find eLearning and digital technology exciting and this is a huge component of my job, teaching in a 1:1 environment. Teaching 21st century skills, such as critical and creative thinking, problem solving, communicating and collaborating are important aspects of education today, and this is an area that I am very passionate about. I look forward to meeting many of you throughout the year. Nga mihi.

Amanda Caradus - Room 10 - Email Mrs Caradus

Kia Ora, my name is Amanda Caradus and I am a new staff member at Roslyn School. Originally from Levin, I have worked at schools in Levin, Whanganui, Opunake and finally putting down some grass roots in the Manawatu with my husband. You will find me in Rooms 10 & 11 (Potama Tahi) with Whea Tash. I have a massive passion to teach, in particular have strengths in literacy, STEAM and digital technology. I look forward to getting to know all of the students and look forward to an exciting year ahead!

Natasha Radford - Room 11 - Email Whaea Tash

Kia ora, I’m Natasha Radford and this is my second year working at Roslyn School. I am working in the Mana Tahi Team with Year 5 & 6 students. My homeroom is Room 11. Potama Tahi is our pod and is made up of two classes - Room 10 and Room 11. I am really excited to be working at this incredible school and with all these amazing students. I am looking forward to what this year brings and I can’t wait to see where this learning journey takes us.

Vanessa Whittingham - Room 13 - Email Whaea Vanessa

Nga mihi mahana, Bula, Namaste, Hola. My name is Vanessa Whittingham. This is my fifth year at Roslyn School. Following on from last year we are in a collaborative space called Poutama Rua as we are 1 of 2 pods, one class with two teachers. Whaea Kirsty and myself are teaching a bunch of excited and energised Yr 5&6 students. We are excited about the upcoming year to inspire and engage our students in fun activities within their learning and watching the different personalities grow. I look forward to meeting past and present parents/whānau of students in our classroom as well as the wider community. I hope to see many of you visiting our classes and enjoying the learning and collaboration with our tamariki. Kia Ora.

Debbie Strutt - Room 17 (Team Leader) - Email Whaea Debbie

Kia ora my name is Whaea Debbie and this is my first year at Roslyn school. I am working in Room 17 with a group of year 3-4 children and will be leading the He Kakano team. I have been a teacher for over 20 years and have a passion for writing. I moved to New Zealand in 2008 and love teaching here. I am looking forward to watching our tamariki grow as learners and hope to pass on some of my passion for writing. My door is always open, feel free to drop in and have a chat.

Sharron Bester - Room 14 - Email Mrs Bester

Kia Ora, I’m Sharron Bester the Year 3-4 Teacher in Room 14. I look forward to accelerate the learning of the amazing students in my class in all curriculum areas. I wear many different hats in the school so I co-ordinate the ESOL learning of students with English as their second language, arrange all the relievers and lead the Mathematics Curriculum Area in the school. I am passionate about Maths and have specialised in it so I am able to support the teachers, students and coach our Mathex teams to ensure they are challenged to reach their full potential.

Helena Turner - Room 15 - Email Whaea Helena

Kia Ora e te whānau o Roslyn School, I’m Whaea Helena. This year I am one of the five teachers in the He Kākano team and I am teaching a year 3-4 class in Room 15. I am in my second year of teaching at Roslyn School and have previously taught at a range of schools across the Manawatu. I am excited about the year ahead and look forward to seeing your children grow and become more empowered as they develop in their learning journeys. I have strengths in many areas, yet am particularly passionate about teaching Technology, Science and Art, as well as tikanga Māori. I will be working alongside Whaea Sandy to implement tikanga Māori across the school, as well as, overseeing our Kapa Haka groups and being part of the Wellbeing Team. Esmay Archer - Room 16 - Email Mrs Archer

Kia Ora everyone, my name is Esmay Archer and I will be located in Room 16 for the rest of the year while Whaea Deavan is on maternity leave. I am very excited to be joining the four other amazing teachers within the He Kakano team and am looking forward to an amazing time with our inspiring tamariki! Kia Ora. Students and staff both call me Tammy. You will find me down in our Tipu class (room1/2) again this year helping to support our youngest of students as they transition into school. I am working alongside the lovely Ade and Whaea Judie. We are also part of the awesome team Te Tipu Ora (Years 0-2). I have a young family myself and teach Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Teaching is a passion of mine not a job. I love to see the different ways children learn and the progress that they make. Our doors are always open, so please come and visit!

Kia Ora. My name is Ade and I am new to Roslyn School this year. I am passionate about the arts and play based learning. I love to see children using their imaginations and getting excited when they learn and achieve something new. Room 1 is where you will find me. I job share with lovely Tammy three days a week on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. I am part of a fabulous team of passionate teachers (Te Tipu Ora) and consider my myself absolutely blessed to be part of this very special place. You are welcome to visit any time.

Kia Ora. My Name is Pauline and I'm often called Paulini by the children.. I love teaching our youngest students . My teaching career has been a mix of Early Childhood Education and Junior School teaching. My passion is learning through play and making the curriculum fit our children not our children fit our curriculum. I value relationships with children and whanau. and would love you to come and join in and see how we still learn how to read, write and learn maths through play while children lead their own learning through their passions and interests.

Carl Roberts - Room 3 - Email Carl

Kia ora, Carl here. When it comes to educating our tamariki I respect with the deepest understanding that these kids are the future. My intention as the teacher of room 3 is to offer these young learners an environment to safely enjoy exploring their emergent skills and knowledge, while understanding how to calculate risk and be diligently innovative when problem solving. Fabian O'Halloran - Room 4 - Email Fabian

Kia ora I’m Fabian and I teach in Room 4 alongside Carl, I’m the team leader of Te TIpu Ora this year and I also teach music around the school too. Tēnā koutou katoa. I’m delighted and excited to join the fabulous Te Tipu Ora team and to team teach alongside Fabian in room 4 on Thursday and Fridays. With our open door policy, please pop in anytime. I look forward to sharing my enthusiasm for teaching and learning at Roslyn in the many forms this can take. I’m dedicated to my responsibility as Pākehā to support Te Āo Māori and share my knowledge of nurturing Papatūānuku. Children call me Whaea Sharon and I live in Pohangina with Kev, have 4 children and 2 mokopuna, soon to be 3.
