Induction
New Entrants
For new entrant students we aim for the smoothest possible transition into school. Enrolling your child as soon after their fourth birthday will help us plan, and also give your child time to become family with the school.
Preschoolers of all ages are invited to come the Hatchling Preschool programme. Along with the Alphabet games and activities, this helps your child to become familiar with the school environment.
On starting at Roslyn, new entrants are assessed for pre-reading skills (letter recognition and sounds, reading from left to right) and basic maths skills (shapes, colours). This helps the teacher to plan for your child's learning.
After 5 weeks, you will be invited to a conference with the teacher to discuss how your child has settled into the school.

Other new students
When older students start at Roslyn they will usually have time with the team leader from their team to conduct an induction.
The students are introduced to the Core Culture of their new class and team and the general ethos of Roslyn School to help them integrate successfully into their new class. This may include some assessment to assist their new teacher with placing them into reading, writing and maths groups.
