Year 7 & 8 Technology

Hi,
I'm Miss Claire Anderson, it's school time again and I am excited to be starting my 5th year at Roslyn School.  I am very happy to be part of the Kahikatea team and to have the Year 7 & 8's in my Technology classroom. I am looking forward to sharing this journey with them as we learn new skills and knowledge. Visitors to Room 1 are always welcome, come see what we do!

Students will follow a process through all its stages: choose and use materials, tools and equipment skilfully and safely. They are “doing/making” as well as “thinking” about their designs.  The Technology Room is a safe working environment where we discuss and explore the possible dangers and how to prevent accidents. Covered shoes are a requirement for all practical sessions.

Separate programmes are run for the Year 7 & 8’s. The Year 8’s build on the skills introduced in the previous year. This ensures that children are not repeating topics and are developing further skills.

Times:

Tuesday - Room 23

Wednesday - Room 4

Thursday - Room 22

Miss Anderson teaches all the Technology areas in Room 1

We experience working with wood, electronics, textiles, food, hard and soft materials, computer-aided design and digital equipment.  A wide range of skills are used throughout the programme such as; problem-solving, designing, construction, communication, critical thinking, exploring, creativity and evaluation. We work cooperatively and individually to create our outcomes. Emphasis is on the process and not only the final outcome.
