Board of Trustees Meetings
The Board of Trustees meet once a month, generally on the third Thursday at
7:00pm in the staffroom. You are welcome to come and attend any meeting.
Book Look
Every term your child's books come home for the weekend for Book Look. This
is a chance for you to see the work and progress your child is making in their
work. You can also take the opportunity to comment on the work.
Conferences
We hold Parent/Teacher/Student conferences twice a year. Watch the
newsletter for dates. You are welcome to still come and speak with any teacher
outside of these times.
Contact with School
We want you to feel welcome at our school. Please keep in touch with what
is happening in the classroom and get to know your child’s teacher. Informal
visits are welcome. Please feel free to see the Principal or one of our Deputy
Principals at any time. We have an Open Door Policy.
For longer interviews, it would help if you used the following
procedures:
If you want an interview with your child’s teacher, please arrange a
time.
General enquires can be made through the school office.
If you need to withdraw your child for the dentist, doctor etc. or if you
know of a prolonged absence, please inform the office and sign them out
accordingly.
If you have a cause for complaint, or you feel you are uncertain about
something, please approach your child’s teacher first.
You are also welcome to discuss any matters with one of the Deputy
Principals or the Principal.
Costs at Roslyn
While schools in New Zealand are funding to provide a "free education" this
funding is only designed to cover the core delivery. There are additional costs
that you will need to cover throughout the year. We do appreciate that many
families struggle with finances so we try to keep costs down to an absolute
minimum. We are more than happy to have the costs paid off over any length of
time, let us know if you need to.
Dental Clinic
We have a dental clinic on site that caters for our students and
preschoolers. If you need to make an appointment phone 357 9868.
Dress Code
The following clothing and accessories will not be permitted at Roslyn
School:
Long/dangly earrings
Any facial piercing
Inappropriate slogans on clothing
Inappropriate trousers—exposing underwear etc.
Inappropriate skirt lengths (too short for modesty, too long for
safety)
Crop tops exposing skin
Make up
There will be no wearing of bandannas or beanies or hoodies up
Sun hats must be worn outdoors in Term 1 and after Labour Weekend in Term
4.
Food/Lunch Orders
We promote healthy eating at Roslyn. Please give your children healthy food
for morning tea and lunch. We do not permit sugary drinks or lollies at
school.
We have lunch orders that carry the heart foundation tick, available every
Monday to Thursday and a sausage sizzle on Friday each week.
Hats
Over the summer terms (Terms 1 and 4) we operate a No-hat-no-play policy.
If your child doesn't have a hat, we can provide a school hat for use at
school.
Lost Property
Please come and check through our lost property on a regular basis, you
could be surprised at what your child has lost! Lost property is kept in the box
between Rooms 13 and 20.
Medicine
If your child requires medication at school, come in and see the office.
You will need to sign a form allowing us to give the required dose. For
antibiotics required three times daily we do suggest doses before school, after
school and at bedtime, which eliminates the need for doses at school.
Newsletters
We have a weekly newsletter that comes out every Wednesday to the eldest
child in the family. The newsletter contains some important news and dates to be
aware of. If you do not get the newsletter, come in and we can give you an extra
copy.
For non-custodial parents, if you would like a copy of the newsletter send
us a pile of stamped, self-addressed envelopes and we'll send you one each
week.
